The photo in our header is an early morning view of the mountains from the monastery at Baek Dam Sa Temple where we visited on our Trip to Korea with the WKSA. The view looks remarkably like our own Blue Ridge mountains!

Why Kuk Sool Won Martial Arts?

With dozens of different martial arts offered in the area, why is Kuk Sool Won™ of the Upstate my BEST CHOICE for martial arts training?

"Martial Arts" is a very broad term and can encompass many different types of techniques --

from the striking and kicking of Tae Kwon Do and Karate,
the throwing and grappling techniques of Hapkido, Judo and Jujitsu or
the exotic weapons and animal-style techniques of Kung Fu.

While it would ordinarily be necessary for you to attend several different schools in order to get all of these different techniques . . .

At Kuk Sool Won™ of the Upstate we offer them all -- and MUCH MORE in a single comprehensive program!

FITNESS

Coordinated as a full body work-out, Kuk Sool Won training combines many different types of exercise - flexibility, strength training and cardio - into a single, energetic workout program.

SELF DEFENSE

Self defense is all about options, and that is one of the strong points of Kuk Sool Won. In addition to the many dozens of different strikes and punches associated with most martial arts, the fundamental techniques of Kuk Sool Won are designed to attack the weak points on an opponent’s body: his joints and pressure points.

TRADITION

As an organization, Kuk Sool Won is only about fifty years old (about the same as Tae Kwon Do, Hapkido and other styles of Korean martial arts), but the history and traditions of Kuk Sool stretch back many hundreds of years into the martial history of Korea, drawing on the three main root systems of Korean martial arts: Tribal or Family Martial Arts, Buddhist Martial Arts, Korean Royal Palace Martial Arts.

Kuk Sool Won includes elements of technique and training unavailable from any other martial arts training program in the Upstate area.
